Namanh Hoang

Strategist Director

 

Namanh has over a decade of design experience and spent the last 8 years as Creative Director for Crisp Brand Agency. For the last 8 years he focused primarily on business & brand strategy. Namanh has a Bachelor's degree in Sociology and graduated with departmental honors and swept nearly every conceivable award and distinguished honor in both his class and department. These included Order of Merit Scholar Excellence Recipient 2007, Robin Williams Paper Award for the best empirical undergraduate research paper 2007, Social Science Alumni Award & Scholarship for Outstanding Honors Thesis 2007, among others.

During his tenure at UCI Namanh assisted the founders of UCI's first American Advertising Federation (AAF) chapter as a professional aid during the first 2 annual National Student Advertising Competitions. As an undergraduate he attended numerous graduate courses in social networking which granted him the unique opportunity to work along side Carter Butts Phd in the CalIT Disaster Response & Recover Team on the DisasterNets project. Also as an undergraduate Namanh also participated as a guest speaker introducing prospective graduate students to the field of Social Network Analysis and during his honors research program, he developed the systematic data collection program "CarLab" and the R Programming Language routine for the analysis of multi-convergent data analysis collected from CarLab. He has worked closely with professors Samuel Gilmore, Carter T. Butts, Linton C. Freeman, Katherine Faust, A. Kimball Romney, and Douglas R. White, who all assisted Namanh in the publication of his honors thesis "Shared Semantic Structures For Automobile Brands Among U.S. Residents."

For over the past decade, he has amassed an extensive list of experiences in the creative field having been the Product Manager for Linksys, Associate Designer at Rare Medium Inc, and as a freelance designer. As creative director at Crisp Branding, he oversaw and was involved in a majority of all creative aspects of the firm. He has provided critical brand and business strategy to global clients including short-term and long-term business developments and brand direction. Namanh has also extended his experience into the fields of broadcast media direction; strategy and production having created two successful web cast broadcast shows. His specialization is primarily focused on the interactive entertainment industry, which includes videogames and online interaction.  

Namanh has been involved in a start-up clothing brand that he developed and started called "Society of the Spectacle". S.O.S. is a socially conscious apparel brand that integrated socio-political messaging and design on to t-shirts and other clothing and was available at top retailers including Nordstrom and American Rag. Namanh is also the co-founder of the internet opinion engine website Baduku.com of which he holds the provisional patent on for it's unique semantic suggestion algorithm for ranking public opinions.

More recently he has spent his time consulting business', writing a branding book titled “Brandology: A Sociological perspective on branding” and speaking at numerous event in Orange County including a regular keynote at the University of California Irvine on the topics of entrepreneurial financing, entrepreneurship, the fashion business, branding fundamentals, technology startups and creative careers. Recently he participated in the launching of the UCI CalIT2 Incubator Labs.
